News and Current Affairs MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To edit news inserts according to Confidentialuired SABC standards through creative and quality video editing. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Edit news inserts for all news bulletins and news Confidentialated programmes
- Timeously check and ensure that video editing equipment is functional before use.
- Advise journalists in the selection of appropriate shots that will be in synch with their scripts.
- Ensure adherence to editing standard operating procedures.
- Ensure that the edited package is fully compliant to go on air (correctness).
- Ensure that editing deadlines are met.
- Ensure that clips Confidentialch their defined destination on time.
- Check and correct any defects on the clipbefore it is published
- Should be able to operate under extreme pressure
- Should have a deep understanding of news and topical stories
- Ability to operate nonlinear editing systems Adhere to the SABC editorial codes and Broadcasting Confidentialulatory and Legislative provisions.
- Ensuring compliance with Video Editing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and monitor the implementation thereof. Liaise with Bulletin editors and Programme Producers Confidentialarding performance, Confidentialource capacity Confidentialuirements of video editors
- Communicate with clients with Confidentialards to their needs Confidentialarding footage Confidentialuested, content availability and rights Confidentialtrictions Confidentialarding the material. ConfidentialUIREMENTS:
- National Diploma (NQF 6) in Journalism/Video Technology or Confidentialevant equivalent qualification.
- Excellent selection of shots for editing purposes
- Ability to work under pressure and for long irregular hours.
- Be prepared to work long and irregular hours, including weekends whenever necessary.
- Excellent news judgement and news awareness
- Keep abreast of latest technology in the field of operation.
- Computer literacy is essential
