The main purpose of this position is to provide currency integrity intelligence analysis and specialised consultative investigations support services to the South African Police Service (SAPS) and other law enforcement stakeholders on behalf of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB).
Detailed Description
- Continually scan and analyse the environment and media sources for currency integrity risks as well as counterfeiting risks and threats in the industry to inform reporting and decision making.
- Support the SAPS and other law enforcement stakeholders on currency-related infringements by providing relevant currency information and specialist advice for the purpose of currency authentication.
- Provide expert testimony on currency-related infringements for law enforcement in ongoing cases.
- Create awareness through general education and the provision of technical training on currency security features and counterfeiting to the SAPS and other law enforcement and industry stakeholders.
- Provide Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) reports on currency integrity matters.
- Analyse, review and integrate intelligence data from a variety of sources to provide insights and intelligence reports, and to make recommendations.
- Continually keep abreast of, and implement, new developments in Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) and Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) intelligence analysis systems.
- Maintain a database of matters relating to currency integrity infringements.
- Report investigation findings and provide recommendations to the relevant stakeholders.
- Provide training to law enforcement officers in terms of currency integrity legislation.
Job Requirements
- a relevant Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in Criminology or Forensic Investigations, Law;
Police Sciences or an equivalent qualification;
and
- a minimum of 5-8 years of experience in a legal, policing and/or intelligence environment.
