**Requirements**:
- **Grade 12 and a Mechanical Engineering Degree/Diploma**:
- **3 years relevant experience in a related role within the food manufacturing environment**:
- **Fitter Trade test.**:
- **Sound experience in maintaining food processing equipment or equivalent.**:
- **Must be able to work in a fast paced and high performing environment.**
**Responsibilities**:
- **Fits and assembles structural frameworks such as angle iron, I-beams, and plate steel, using hand tools and welding equipment and following blueprint specifications:
Examines blueprints and materials list to obtain parts specifications.**:
- **Fits and assembles metal parts and subassemblies to fabricate production machines and other equipment.**:
- **Take accurate measurements of small and large metal components to make sure they will fit together properly**:
- **Make adjustments to manufacturing machinery to ensure they can cope with the specifications of the components that need to be built.**:
- **Make sure machinery used in component production is consistently maintained and oversee any repair work when required.**:
- **Cut, bend and affix equipment such as hydraulic pipe lines and weld metal components together as required**:
- **Positions parts in jig and files, chisels, and grinds parts, as indicated, to fit them together**:
- **Periodically compares dimensions of assembly to blueprint specifications, using square, rule etc.**:
- **Respond to plant breakdowns by ensuring that PPM (planned preventative maintenance) is carried out, reducing downtime.**:
- **Basic fabrication skills including small welding tasks.**:
- **Inspection, removal and/or repairs of faulty parts and replacement of the same.
