**PART 1 - The Opportunity**
The African Impact Foundation is a small youth development non-profit with big ambitions for impact. We operate programs and have a team in Zambia to create pathways out of poverty for young people in Livingstone. We have a small fundraising and governance team in Cape Town. Having recently entered into a partnership to expand our impact and partner with other foundations, we want to develop our fundraising and sustainability to support several organisations to meet their impact goals.
**PART 2 - Job description**
**SUMMARY**
The Fundraising Manager will lead the annual fundraising plan, develop our digital presence, manage donor relations, identify opportunities and diversify our funding streams. With a small team and consultant services, this person will develop fundraising support for the African Impact Foundation and, over time, create a pool of resources and skills for other small partner non-profits to access. The African Impact Foundation is registered in the UK, Zambia and South Africa.
- Own the process for fundraising strategies and plans involving team members and specialists.
- Identify and explore diverse strategies for new donors, corporate partners and grants.
- Develop our digital presence and media to attract and retain supporters and donors (we have a partner digital agency to support this).
- Responsible for donor relationship management and identifying roles of the Executive Director, Trustees and other team members in engaging with donors.
- Create donor relationship journeys and engagement using our CRM (Bloomerang) and other digital tools.
- Work with the Program manager and team to agree on stories, metrics, and media required from projects to share with donors and partners.
- Involvement in developing a fundraising team to serve a group of partner non-profits - an exciting opportunity for growth and development over the coming years.
**DETAIL**
**Fundraising plan and strategy**
- Own the process to agree on our fundraising strategy and plans, involving various stakeholders and specialists.
- Deliver the fundraising plan - focussing on new acquisitions, donor retention, regular giving and grant writing (working with a freelance grant writer).
- Explore fundraising strategies, platforms and partners to appeal to new donors.
- Report progress, challenges and achievements with the Executive Director and Trustees.
- Review fundraising strategies for continuous improvement and learning.
**Digital presence and print media**
- Work with the digital agency to identify strengths and areas of improvement.
- Involvement in digital presence improvement plan to improve online appeal and engagement with supporters and target.
- Ensure our digital plan and voice represents our fundraising strategy, donor engagement, vision and values.
- Work closely with the program team to create stories, metrics and media from projects of our impact, team and programs.
- Lead the process of creating annual and impact reports that can be used as engagement materials.
- Create media for the team to use in donor engagement - both online and print
**Donor Management**
- Manage the donor communications coordinator - agreeing to plans, donor journeys and priorities for donor engagement and new acquisitions.
- Manage the use of data and our donor CRM (Bloomerang), so our donors feel involved and proud and receive personalised and relevant communication and engagement.
- Assist the Executive Director with major donors and corporate partner acquisitions and relationships.
- Coach and support Trustees in nurturing and reaching out to their network.
- Develop skills across the team in roles where they can engage potential donors and partners.
**Fundraising team management**
- Supervise and coach the donor relationship coordinator - agreeing to priorities, sharing ideas and agreeing on plans to develop our donor engagement.
- Work with freelancers and consultants to develop fundraising and digital presence - agreeing on their involvement, scope and terms.
- In time and given the funds, develop the fundraising roles and team as per the need of the evolving partnership of non-profits.
**Part 3 - Key skills and approach**
- Three years of experience in Fundraising Management with diverse expertise in different funding sources.
- Fundraising or marketing qualifications.
- Experience with international donors and fundraising
- Donor-centric and engaging communication skills through written and visual media
- Experience in medium-term strategy experience with the ability to create realistic plans to deliver.
- Proactive and able to propose thought-through ideas and measure results.
- Can work independently with good reporting and communication with the Executive Director.
- Experience in managing a small team, agencies and consultants.
- Familiar and experienced with social media, online platforms, shared drives, CRM systems, and quality website basics are essential, as much of our engagement
