We're looking for a candidate to fill this position in an exciting company. Leadership and Succession – Provide direction and leadership through positive influence on clients, teams, and individuals as you lead by example and establishing valued relationships at all levels. Building and developing the team for success that it is high performing, consistent, motivated towards successful outcomes and effective service delivery. Strategy and Sustainability – Design and execute short and long-term tax strategies in support of the key objectives for clients and BDO by setting priorities and direction and align people to the objectives. Marketing and Business Development – Analysing and exploring market trends specific to the firm’s services and implement measures that lead to growth. The Heads of Business Lines represent BDO SA in their area of expertise and are responsible for promoting BDO and its brand. Financial Performance – Manage and assist Partners and Directors in the Business Line to achieve their Regional Office and personal financial objectives set out in the business plan and strategy. Participate in acquisitions and development of investment proposals, including development of related tax forecast models to identify tax planning opportunities, recommend tax effective methods to optimize return on investment, and ultimately to add value to transactions of the tax function. The minimum required qualification for this position is CA(SA), B. Comm, Higher Diploma in Tax or Tax related tertiary qualification. A relevant postgraduate business qualification (MBL, LLB, LLM (Tax Law), Master’s in Taxation, M. Comm, or MBA) will be an advantage. 10 Years’ experience at a Senior Managerial level in an accounting and consulting organisation of which 8 years must be direct experience of leading a Tax Department. A minimum of 3 years, of the years’ experience must be people management experience. Effective, commercial experience in running a business/business unit. Familiar with domestic and international tax laws, treaties, tax withholding and financing structures including experience researching tax laws and regulations. Needs to be able to understand and interpret financial accounting records. A sound understanding of the end-to-end tax process in the private client and recognised networks, and the implementation of structures surrounding the tax activities and obligations will be a major advantage.
