CONTEXT
The speed with which governments are reforming the legislative and regulatory environment in Africa is unprecedented. An increasing number of sectors are considered "
Regulated"
and governments are seeking to use regulatory intervention to influence consumer and corporate behaviour. At the same time, corporations are often prompted to advise on their wider socio-economic impact when engaging with policy makers. In this environment, the question of impact receives a new meaning and importance.
As our public policy &
regulatory affairs practice advises clients on how to strategically engage with policy makers and shape emerging legislation based on the notion of Shared Advantage, we are often required to assess impact of policy, corporate intervention, or specific projects.
THE ROLE
This role is designed to elevate our impact and evaluation work to the next level, by investing in building a team, and developing unique methodologies around policy impact and gap analysis, value at stake assessments, regulatory proof point development, and socio-economic and wider societal impact assessments.
YOUR PROFILE
A public policy professional having worked in-house or in the consulting space, leading on assessing both value at stake and value creation assessments.
Additional experience in the tax and/or sustainability space is an additional advantage.
You are driven, creative, strategic, a self-starter.
You are eager to build your own team by investing in methodologies, experience and capacitation, while servicing high-profile clients.
**Requirements**:
- Location is flexible but presence and right to work in South Africa is preferred
- Strong academic background;
Master’s degree in a relevant, analytical discipline, such as macro-economics, political science, development economics, or social studies
- 5+ years working in-house or in the consulting space, leading on assessing both value at stake and value creation
- Good familiarity with the regulatory and policy space, with particular expertise in either tax or sustainability, an advantage
- Strong project management, planning and team leading skills
- Excellent communication and writing skills with particular attention to detail
