Lecturer (Information Systems / Data Management)

**Qualifications**
At least a master’s degree in computer science, statistics, information systems, software engineering, data science, data management, or any related field.
**Experience**
- Advanced knowledge and experience with relational database management system software such as Microsoft SQL and Microsoft Access and/or other relevant software
- Strong Knowledge of database design, data warehouses, integration techniques, data migrations, visual design/ dashboards
- Adequate knowledge of programming languages e.G., Python and R
- Minimum of two years experience in managing and analysing large and complex research data (preferably in healthcare or remote sensing) and providing logical solutions to problem
- Experience in teaching in the areas of artificial intelligence, data science and deep learning
- Experience in conducting research, demonstrated through at least one peer-reviewed publication
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team
- Able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines
- Interest in and commitment to building research capacity
- Experience in teaching and postgraduate supervision will be an advantage
**Responsibilities**
- Teach and coordinate research data management as part of the MSc Epidemiology programme
- Teach courses on epidemiology, biostatistics and data management, including short courses within the Wits SPH and Faculty Research Office
- Actively participate in post-graduate students’ research supervision
- Define and develop your area of research interest
- Lead and contribute to grant proposal writing for research projects in the School, thereby growing the SPH research portfolio Contribute to developing information systems and providing analytical, methodological support and advice to SPH researchers.
