Purchasing Specialist/Senior Buyer Description Our client is situated in Cape Town. The Company hosts one of South Africa-s largest Foundry Operations insofar the casting of heavy-duty engine blocks. They are a proudly South African company, and they pride themselves on timeous supply of good quality heavy duty engine blocks for the export market.Management promotes a culture of lifelong learning and development of their employees in their ongoing pursuit of superior quality.The Company requires the skills of a Purchasing Specialist/ Senior Buyer, who will be responsible for the procurement of cost-effective production material, non-production material and services in line with company strategy and objectives.LEVEL OF EDUCATION:
Degree/ Diploma in Purchasing &
Supply Management OR atleast 4 - 8 Years - purchasing experience in Large Manufacturing / Heavy Engineering Industry. EXPERIENCESound technical background in Engineering / Manufacturing Industry / Heavy EngineeringStrategic skills in planning, coordinating, organizing and controllingGood analytical skillsAdvanced negotiation skills - able to negotiate at all levels without Management involvementGood communication and interpersonal skillsGood people management skillsBasic financial management skillsSound quality systems knowledgeIntercultural skillsInformation management skills - Windows / Excel / Word / PowerPoint / Syspro Or Similar ERP System and Possibly exposure to SAPStrong technical knowledge of Foundry &
Machining productionAbility to work under pressure in an unsupervised manner with the responsibility for production material with high consequence of e rror RESPONSIBILITY AREAS INCLUDE:
Procure production and non-production material at a competitive price, approved quality and on time to meet production scheduleManage relationship with Daimler counterparts and identify bundling opportunitiesRegularly negotiate prices / contractsPrepare and monitor procurement process of Foundry &
Machining production materialManage supplier queries and corrective actionsDevelop new suppliers and identify alternative sourcesEvaluate suppliers and monitor corrective actionsAdvise management regarding trends in production material supply market ON OFFER:
