Senior Property Underwriter - Short Term Insurance

**Role Purpose**
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Underwrite new and renewal business according to defined underwriting guidelines and best practices. Deliver this with craftsmanship - a meticulous approach to underwriting, passion, and excellence.
2. Assist with management and development of the portfolio, market profile and producer relationships. This involves regular portfolio monitoring, brokers and/or client liaison and collaboration with business partners and business development resources.
3. Maintain accurate underwriting and policy records within agreed underwriting procedures and best practices.
4. Work within the framework of ethical, compliance and underwriting policies and service standards.
5. Focus on retention of existing business and new business development objectives without compromising underwriting discipline.
6. Contribute to meeting the production and underwriting margin financial objectives and business plans.
7. Is passionate about delivering exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.
8. Representative:
To represent and promote the company and maintain a permanent contact with internal colleagues, brokers and major clients.
**Authority**
Level of Authority Property Level B authority and thereafter develop A level authority
Referral of Authority Head of Property South Africa.
**Qualifications**:
? **Grade 12 (Matric).**? Qualifications:
Bachelor level business degree or similar is an advantage.**
**? Industry related qualification (AIISA or similar) is an advantage.**
**? Good interpersonal, communication &
negotiation skills.**? Competent in Microsoft Office with good excel skills an advantage.**
**? Expected to undertake “on the job” training and development.**
**Experience**
**? Strong technical knowledge of property insurance with a minimum of 5-years property underwriting experience.**
**? Self-motivated with the ability to make decisions and work on one’s own initiative.**
**? Social capital and existing relationships within the industry is an advantage.**? FAIS accredited representative (having completed regulatory qualifications) is a requirement.
