Superintendent Environmental Engineering

Key responsibilities:
Determining, implementing and reviewing short and long term requirements and plans to provide and acceptable workplace environment as per the mines strategic plan.
Radiation Protection functions to ensure compliance to COR and NNR regulations.
Providing advice and guidance in all matters pertaining to Environmental Engineering.
Establishing and controlling Environmental Engineering resources e.G. instruments, equipment, systems and staff.
Performing internal and external audits.
Advising on a safe course of action in emergency situations.
Updating relevant codes of practice whenever required and ensuring compliance.
The appointee should:
Hold a Minerals Council (prev. Chamber of Mines) Certificate in Mine Environmental Control.
Be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Be proficient in the use of Ventilation simulation softwaresuch as VUMA.
Have a minimum of 3 years experience as an Environmental Engineering Supervisor, including experience in the occupational hygiene and radiation protection functions.
Demonstrate strong communication and presentation skills.
Have sound analytical and statistical analysis abilities (i.E. Refrigeration plant analysis and long term planning).
Be prepared to work overtime on an ad hoc basis when required.
Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk based medical examination at the relevant Sibanye Stillwater Occupational Health Centre.
Advantageous requirements:
Hold a relevant degree / National Diploma in Mining Engineering or Environmental Engineering, or be in the process of achieving one.
Be abreast with the latest Ventilation, Occupational Hygiene and Radiation Protection Technologies.
Hold a Radiation Protection Officer Certificate.
Project Management and Planning experience.
Be proficient in Microstation CadsMine.
