**Job Advert Summary**:
- 5 Years relevant experience in a Heavy Industrial/Mining environment
- In depth understanding and knowledge of the Cement and/or Lime Quarrying and manufacturing process and equipment will be advantageous.
- Strong inclination to root cause identification and problem solving
- Sound knowledge of Kilns, Mills, Stackers, Reclaimers and crushers
- A working knowledge of applicable SHEQ legislation
- Skills to consult at different levels in an organization
**Minimum Requirements**:
- Recognised Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or with >
10 years for RPL in Cement manufacturing experience as Mechanical Foreman/Supervisor.
- Matric with Mathematics and Science
- Valid Driver’s licence
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- To act as specialist advisor to the engineering department to ensure professional care of assets (Availability and reliability at design capacity of Plant and Equipment) at all times in a sustainable cost effective way.
- Complete management of engineering projects from feasibility to commissioning
- Manage outsourced services as required
- Confident and able to “think outside the box”
- Ensure compliance to relevant legal requirements and ensure safe operation of plant and equipment

- Leadership skills- **Business Intelligence**:
- Perform trend analysis and Root-cause Analysis to rectify problem areas and poor maintenance practices.
- **Functional Strategy and Planning**:
- Perform periodic review of Asset Care Practices and procedures.
Stay abreast of changes in industry, maintenance practices and technologies. Manage and oversee the 5-year Asset Care Plan (ACP) for the plant containing all major asset replacement, renewal, maintenance, and disposal (Asset Life Cycle). Ensure that the activities of the Engineering Department have a mínimal impact on Production by maximising machine Availability and Reliability. Provide input into the Engineering departmental structure and conduct resource capacity planning as per ACP requirements. Provide input into strategic procurement decisions.
- **Execution of Maintenance**:
- Ensure the cost effective and timeous completion of maintenance activities within the department. Assess and approve requirements for Engineering facilities. Optimise the department's core internal processes.
- **Operational Control -** Ensure that an informative and accurate reporting and review system is maintained in the department. Co-develop and sign-off Engineering policies and procedures. Ensure that Operational Best Practices (OBP) is adhered to. Sign off on the plant Temporary Change Log (Weekly).
- **Communication and Reporting -** Ensure that key Engineering Department metrics are reviewed in the departmental INVOCOM. Provide input into interdepartmental INVOCOMs. Ensure that the correct, accurate and timeous key metrics feed into the weekly OPS reports. Generate Shutdown reports. Report factors, incidents and accidents that pose a business risk.
- **Governance and Risk Management -** Ensure compliance to SHE, legal, statutory, and regulatory requirements. Promote and ensure compliance with the IMS system. Evaluate negative trends and introduce remedial solutions. Comply with JAP audit requirements. Drive and ensure Asset Care Health Checks are entrenched on all levels and provide resources to close the gaps. Comply with Ad-Hoc audit requirements and implement corrective actions. Conduct daily site inspections of one major production unit, including routine inspections of major breakdowns and statutory related activities. Review the following reports on an Ad-Hoc basis:
Work loading, back-log, Cost reports, Callouts and Daily Production.
- **Inventory Management -** Ensure critical spares availability and minimise redundant equipment spares inventory by leveraging established mechanisms. Approve equipment and part specification for Capitalised Maintenance.
**Contractor Management - **Set spares and service standards by actively supporting and complying with the PPC supplier rating system and best practices. Manage and liaise with external contractors, advisors or consultants to the asset care and maintenance function. Ensure adherence to PPC asset care policies and procedures
